Description:
Frederick Chapman (1864-1943) was born and studied in England. He emigrated to Australia and was appointed Palaeontologist to the National Museum, Melbourne, from1902 to 1927. During this time he published papers on Museum collection of fossils sponges, corals and fishes. He then served as the first Australian Commonwealth Palaeontologist 1927-35.
