Text Spanish with bilingual identification key in Spanish and English. This volume covers the Phoronida and Brachiopoda and comprises the first part of the study of Lophophorata - coelomate, benthic, sessile marine (except the phylactolaemate bryozoans, restricted to freshwater), from the ibero-balearic coasts. Seven phoronid species, included in 2 genera, and 30 brachiopod species included in 21 genera, 14 families, 5 orders and 3 subphyla. Two additional species of Phoronida and 5 of Brachiopoda, found in localities close to the Iberian Peninsula, are also discussed and diagnosed. An introductory chapter to Lophophorota is followed by several chapters devoted to the study of Phoronida and Brachiopoda, their systematic position, geographic distribution, morphology and classification, with descriptions and identification keys to genera, species, and, in the case of the brachiopods, also to suprageneric taxa.

Also includes data on the geographical distribution and biology of each species as well as an updated bibliography. Appendices include a complete taxonomic nomenclature and a list of Phoronida and Brachiopoda on both the coasts of the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands (Appendices 1 and 2), illustrated keys (in English and Spanish) of species from both groups with representation in the ibero-balearic coasts (Appendix 5), and glossary of morphological and anatomical terms (Appendix 4).
