Litteratura Coleopterologica (1758-1900): a guide to selected books related to the taxonomy of Coleoptera with publication dates and notes

Zookeys Special Issue. Inspired by the two-volume Litteratura taxonomica dipterorum (1758–1930) published in 1997 by Neal L. Evenhuis, this publication consists of a selected list of books, pamphlets, theses, school programs and dictionaries pertaining to the taxonomy of Coleoptera from the beginning of the Linnaean nomenclature in 1758 to the end of 1900. The emphasis is placed on dates of publication of these works since they can be essential in ascertaining priority of new names or nomenclatural acts. Overall, more than 990 works, published by some 620 primary authors, are listed. For each of them the exact title in full, in addition to the publisher and place of publication, pagination with number of plates, and size, are given. Short biographic notices are included for the primary authors, along with the references consulted.
