Description:
New [6th] edition with extensive alterations and additions by H.J. Brooke and W.H. Miller. Very scarce. This edition, co-authored by Henry James Brooke and William Hallowes Miller, is considered one of the best textbooks of crystallography and mineralogy ever published. It is considered a sixth edition of William Phillips' Introduction to Mineralogy (1st ed., 1816), however, written 24 years after Phillips death, it is thoroughly revised and updated.
William Phillips (1775-1828), was the sone of James Phillips, printer and bookseller; he became interested in mineralogy and geology and participated in the foundation of the Geological Society of London in 1807; he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1827 and the Linnean Society in 1819.
