Ward's Natural History series comprises of 12 volumes; this is Vol. XI, Reptiles and Insects, Vol. I (though identified as Vol. I on the title page, no other volumes were issued on reptiles and insects). Among the subjects discussed are: amphibians, reptiles, arachnids, a variety of invertebrates (including some marine species), butterflies and moths, bees and ants, beetles, parasitic insects such as fleas and lice, and many others.

Condition

12mo, near cont. vellum-backed boards, rubbed with wear to edges. Owner's name, John Gregory, dated 1796, to front pastedown. Minor offsetting. A good, clean copy.
