First edition. Scarce. William Henry Grattann (c.1817-1900), was a keen botanist and also a notable church organist, he died in Torquay. In the introduction Grattann states ‘ The object of this book is to call attention to the beauties of marine vegetation….which either in thoughtlessness or ignorance people cast aside or tread under foot as they wander on the sea shore’.
