Hammond, incorporating a hawkmoth larva, and a penny black stamp (reflecting his dual interest in Lepidoptera larvae and philately). Harold Edward Hammond (1902-1963), amateur British lepidopterist best known for his work on the larvae of Lepidoptera; he was an expert in their preservation and wrote several guides to the techniques involved.
