Description:

The author describes the long distance footpaths, which follow the lines of the great chalk ridges of southern England, with the aid of a series of sketch plans (2.5 miles to 1 inch) and b/w photos. These ridges, radiating from a large block of hill country centred on Salisbury Plain, are the South Downs, the North Downs, the Berkshire Downs, Chiltern Hills, East Anglian Heights ridge and Cranborne Chase.
