Edward Bibbins Aveling (1849-1898) was an English biology instructor and supporter of Darwinian theories, atheism, and socialism. He was for a while the partner of Eleanor "Tussy" Marx, the youngest daughter of Karl Marx. The preface to this work states 'This work aims at presenting to the reader an account at once popular and accurate of so much of Charles Darwin's writings as bears upon the origin of species generally, and of man in particular'.
Condition
Sm. 8vo, orig. cloth, light rubbing/minor wear, gt title to spine, a few slight marks and spots to rear board. Title page browned; one gathering loose; small stain to one page.
