Sir Arthur Keith FRS (1866-1955) was a leading Scottish anatomist and anthropologist who ‘was one of the most distinguished of the rapidly dwindling band of those who were brought up in the immediate influence of Darwin’s inspiration and guidance’ - from the wrapper. Keith used his 1927 presidential address to the British Association for the Advancement of Science to make a plea for support to preserve Darwin’s Down House as a national memorial.
