Vol. 1 contains introductory chapters, keys to families for adults and larvae, and detailed treatment of the 24 families of Nematocera and 19 families of orthorrhaphous Brachycera; Vol. 2 covers the 65 families of the Muscomorpha (Cyclorrhapha). Keys to genera are provided for all families. A third volume on 'Evolution & Classification' was published in 1989, but is not present here.
