Complete run of 20 volumes (all published). 3 vols bound in half-leather, one in orig. cloth (library edition); remainder in orig. printed paper-covered boards (6 with spines chipped/torn/defective; 2 with boards taped on). Some foxing. Plate to vol. 1 water stained.
An interesting set with the following entomological associations:
Vol 1857: Ownership signature of Thomas Bainbrigge Fletcher (1878-1950), dated 10/3/1926.
Vol 1871: Signature of William Buckler (1814-1884), author of ‘The Larvae of the British Butterflies’, (1886-1901) of which some volumes were edited by Stainton.
Vol 1874: Inscribed to William Buckler by Henry Guard Knaggs (1832-1908) who contributed to this volume.
