Condition

Large-8vo, orig. brown cloth, gt to spine, teg, corner bumped, minor spotting to edges. Vg. From the library of British anatomist, Prof. A.J.E. Cave (1900-2001), but without his ownership markings. Printed presentation book-plate, dated July 23, 1919, to Professor Grafton Elliot Smith by Members of the Manchester Egyptian and Oriental Society 'in recognition of his inspiring work during the last ten years'. Grafton Elliot Smith (1871-1937) was an Australian-British anatomist, anthropologist and Egyptologist, fellow of the Royal Society and professor of anatomy in Manchester University. He became involved with W.H.R. Rivers and W.J. Perry in investigating the origins of magic and religion, early human migration, and the diffusion of culture.
