Description:

Survey of India, Professional Paper No. 28. Scarce. Major Guy Bomford (1899-1996) was commissioned in the British army in 1917 serving in France and saw action in the North West Frontier, India in 1919 with the 2nd Queen Victoria's Sappers and Miners. Later he was posted to the Survey of India. He was one of the first geodesists in the world to recognise the importance of the relatively large height variations of the geoid. In this important work Bomford proposed a new approach to solve triangulation issues for the Indian subcontinent.
