Description:

Fine chromolithographs by J.L. Macfarlane. A key British text on orchids by Boyle (1841-1914), an author and orchid fancier who was commissioned by Robert Measures to catalogue and describe the orchid collection at The Woodlands, his estate at Streatham in south-west London.

Condition

Large 8vo, orig. cloth, gt, with central gt orchid design to front board, aeg, minor rubbing to extremities. Cracked between gatherings in several places, but binding still firm. One leaf with a short marginal tear. Endpapers browned, occasional light foxing, mostly marginal. A very good copy.
