Zacharias Wagner was one of the outstanding figures of the Dutch India Companies. He served seven years in Dutch Brazil, and 28 years in the service of the Dutch East India Company. He was Commander at the Cape of Good Hope for four years. This is the first English translation of Wagner's drawings of people, flora and fauna.
