Second edition - almost verbatim reprint of the first. It was the author's intention to incorporate this chapter in a larger work on the Wave Theory of Light. Very scarce. William Steadman Aldis (1839-1928) was a British mathematician.

Condition

Title label to front wrapper. From an institutional library with book-plate to endpaper. Also book label of James Walker (Christ Church) (1857-1929), demonstrator in the Clarendon Laboratory, Vice-President of the Physical Society.
