Jules Célestin Jamin (1818-1886) was a French physicist, he was Professor of physics at the École Polytechnique from 1852 to 1881. Edmond Marie Léopold Bouty (1846-1922), was also a French physicist, Professeur at La Faculté des Sciences de Paris for 37 years.

Condition

8 vols, 8vo, Vol. I-IV bound in 5 (Vol. IV in 2 parts), cont. half calf, raised bands to spines, red and black leather title pieces lettered in gilt, marbled boards, rubbed and scuffed, some wear to corners, nevertheless an attractive set. Together with the three supplements (1896-1906), orig. wrappers, worn, stitching to two supplements broken, wrappers detatched. Bookplate of the Herbert Lister Bowman Library, Laboratory of Mineralogy, University of Oxford. A few ink annotations and signature of Herbert Bowman (1874-1942), who was Waynflete Professor of Mineralogy and Crystallography.
