Description:

Text German. The herpetofauna of Turkey is characterized by high species numbers and diversity. In Asia Minor, representatives from the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the deserts of Arabia meet. A special interface is located in the southwest of the country. In the region between Izmir and Alanya as well as the Mediterranean Sea and the steppes of Inner Anatolia, a total of 65 different species of amphibians and reptiles live in a relatively small area. In this book, the species of this well-developed tourist region are presented. After introductory chapters with information on climate, vegetation, zoogeography, problems of nature conservation as well as habitats and species communities, all species of the area are described in detail, each with several photos, distribution maps and detailed texts. In addition to a summary of the biology of the species, the focus is also on recognition and identification.
