The territory of the Russian Far East has a long history of study, especially in the southern regions. The butterfly fauna includes typical representatives of both the Chinese and Japanese fauna, and the northern parts of Asia, including arctic species. This diversity has attracted numerous expeditions and research, as well as a large number of publications. This book differs from all previously published works, not only in its rich illustrative material, but also by the fact that during its preparation all historical collections and almost all type material has been investigated, all original descriptions and available literary sources have been studied. Species distribution maps are published for the first time. This book covers 308 species belonging to 5 families, and includes approx. 4,000 illustrations in colour.
