Selected and edited with an introduction by Prof. C. F. Beckingham. James Bruce of Kinnaird (1730-1794) was a Scottish traveller who confirmed the source of the Blue Nile. He spent more than 12 years in North Africa of which two years were spent travelling in Ethiopia. This abridged edition of Bruce's Travels to Discover the Source of the Nile,, is based on the text of the 2nd edition, 1804, and has as its focus on 'the real adventure of the Abyssian travels'. Includes modern photographs by Hugh Scott and Colonel R.E. Cheesman.

4to, orig cloth. some damage to d/w spine with a few puncture marks to cloth beneath. In removeable protective sleeve. Good.
