Tipped in to 1910 vol. is a signed autograph letter by the author, dated January 20th, 1910, addressed to the reader: 'I regret the high price of this publication which is due to the expense of producing the plates, and the limited number of copies printed. 1910 vol. has a memorial book-plate for Allen Wedgwood (1893-1915), inscribed in pencil M.L. Wedgewood 1937. Mary Louisa Wedgwood (1854-1953) was an English botanist and collector who created a herbarium at Marlborough College, Oxford as a memorial to her son Allen, who died in the First World War at Gallipoli.
