Kanthack and Drysdale developed the book from their experience of teaching bacteriology, principally at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. It was intended as a concise laboratory guide, particularly for students preparing for diplomas in Public Health, and covers general bacteriological techniques, bacteriological analysis and the chemical products of bacterial activity.
