First edition. Scarce work with attractive woodcuts to text by J. Marks, in the style of Bewick, whose work on British birds this was intended to supplement. Leaf E1 (pp. 25/26) is a cancel, with added woodcut of the rock grouse, but without the tailpiece found on the original leaf.

Condition

8vo, orig. cloth, gilt title to spine; minor wear/small chip to rear joint. Hinges cracked and tender. Minor browning to title page and final leaf. Good.
