Provenance: An exceptional association copy. Signed inscription from the author, 'Hugh Main, Esq., With the kind regards of the Authro. 4 June 1920.' Signed portrait of author tipped in to verso of front free endpaper. Hugh Main (1867-1948) was a prominent British naturalist, entomologist, and pioneer in insect photography. He is acknowledged by the author in the Preface for contributing several photographic images to this work.
