Cain (1921-1999), dated 1946, to endpapers; Cain was an evolutionary biologist and ecologist and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1989. This copy also once belonged to R.B. Freeman (1915-1986), zoologist, bibliographer of natural history and book collector, and contains his printed postcard, with a few pencil notes on prices.
