Description:

3rd revised edition. Text German. This field-ready and waterproof identification guide presents all 20 native amphibian species, as well as two introduced species, with over 400 photographs and distribution maps. Spawn, larvae, metamorphs, juveniles, and adults of all native species are shown and described. This makes it possible in many cases to identify the species alive at all developmental stages.

The book is aimed at both those with little or no prior knowledge of amphibians and more experienced enthusiasts. Its robust design also makes it suitable for children and young people.

The guide is written in a clear and concise style. The focus is on photographs for identifying adult animals and their various developmental stages, with many photos showing the amphibians in their natural habitats. A key for identification has been omitted; instead, only those identifying characteristics visible in the photographs are listed, often indicated by arrows.

In the new edition, the main changes were to the wording of the identification characteristics, the replacement or insertion of several illustrations, and the adjustment of some distribution maps. One of the introduced species was removed, while the identification characteristics of another species were expanded.
