Description:
Western Ghats mountain chain has been earmarked by Conservation International as one of 34 global biodiversity hotspots. This study covers the distribution of all known dragonfly and damselfly species. India is home to 488 species and 27 subspecies in 153 genera and 18 families, of which 193 species in 83 genera and 14 families have been found in the Western Ghats. Out of these 74 species are endemic to the region.
