Description:

Scarce first edition, 1,500 copies were published in July, 1904, due to their popularity a second edition was issued in November, 1904. The Board of Agriculture and Fisheries was established in the United Kingdom in 1903, when the earlier Board of Agriculture (created in 1889) was expanded to include oversight of fisheries. Its main role was to promote agricultural efficiency, improve rural livelihoods, and oversee matters related to farming, land use, and fisheries policy. As part of its educational and advisory work, the Board began publishing these short accessible leaflets, designed to inform the public about agricultural best practices, scientific developments, and government recommendations. Subjects include Acts of Parliament. Farm Animals, Wild Birds, Insects and Fungi injurious to crops.
