Thomas Pennant (1726-1798), was a British naturalist, traveller, writer and antiquarian. G.R. de Beer, one time president of the Ray Society, wrote of him: 'it will hardly be denied that he was the leading British Zoologist after Ray and before Darwin.'

4 vols, 8vo, cont. full polished calf, scuffed and worn (3 volumes with repairs to spines/joints), gilt-ruled borders, raised bands to spine, gilt tooling to compartments. Later endpapers. Foxing, chiefly to the first volume, occasionally heavy. Some offsetting. A good set.
