Acollection from the formative period of modern clay mineralogy, comprising papers presented under the auspices of the Comité International pour l'Étude des Argiles (CIPEA) at the XX International Geological Congress, Mexico, 1956. Founded in 1948 to coordinate international research into clay minerals, CIPEA was the precursor of the present International Association for the Study of Clays (AIPEA).
