Description:
Ohara School of Ikebana (also called Ohara-ryū) is one of the most influential schools of this Japanese art of flower arrangement. It was founded by Unshin Ohara in 1895 during Japan's modernization, when Western flowers were becoming widely available. Houn Ohara (1908-1995) was the third headmaster of the Ohara School and was noted for creating Bunjin arrangements, inspired by Chinese scholar-artists and developing Rimpa arrangements, which drew inspiration from the decorative aesthetics of the historic Rimpa School of Japanese painting. This book is probably his best-known English-language work.
An attractive work printed in Japan, featuring handmade Japanese endpapers and decorative cloth.
