An extensively illustrated Danish flora, with 304 fine colour botanical plates by Henning Anthon (1916-2000), one of Denmark's foremost twentieth-century natural-history illustrators, renowned for his scientifically accurate. The work provides detailed botanical descriptions and a systematic account of the wild flora of Denmark, together with selected plants from neighbouring Nordic countries, including a substantial proportion of the species occurring in the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The preface records that the illustrations, depicting over 800 plant specimens, were drawn largely from living material collected by the author and artist themselves, lending the plates particular botanical authenticity. First published in 1958-1959, this is the enlarged second edition.

Mogens Skytte Christiansen (1918-1996) was a distinguished Danish botanist, microbiologist and lichenologist, noted particularly for his research into the taxonomy and ecology of lichens. He also taught plant systematics and nomenclature at the University of Copenhagen.
