Description:
Text German. An important and scarce monograph on the mineralogy of the Lower Rhine volcanic region, particularly the Laacher See district, by the distinguished German mineralogist Reinhard Brauns (1861-1937), Professor of Mineralogy and Petrography at Bonn. Based on many years of field collecting and investigation, the work examines the occurrence, formation and subsequent alteration of the minerals associated with the region's volcanic rocks and ejecta. Of particular interest are the 40 Collotype plates containing 160 photomicrographs of minerals and rock sections from the lower Rhine region which provide an extensive contemporary record of the microscopic mineralogy of this classic European volcanic district.
