Since the appearance of the first six volumes (1988-2005), the increasing role of the internet and drastic change in the publishing world has made it necessary to think about the future concept of the Flora Agaricina Neerlandica. As a result, we present here a book in a new layout and with numerous coloured illustrations, and, in some cases, references to web pages, such as the distributional atlas of Dutch macrofungi. We are also well aware of the fact that taxonomic and nomenclatural information is offered by large databases such as Index Fungorum and Mykobank. But of course, these sources are not completely free of errors and mistakes. For that reason, we have tried to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information in the nomenclatural headings and references to literature.
