Description:
The work re-examines the surviving aphid specimens and species described by the prolific nineteenth-century entomologist Francis Walker who worked in the British Museum, 1840-1860. The preface states ‘Walker’s name has come to be a by-word amongst taxonomists for his inaccuracy and superficiality…..Nevertheless, as Doncaster points out, Walker made a significant and important advance in aphidolological knowledge’. This work resolves numerous problems of identification and synonymy.
