Rare. Published by the Royal Society five years after Ray's death, with an Appendix on British Beetles by Martin Lister (pp. 377-398). This book represents the first systematic attempt to list and describe the British insects. Pages 122 and 357 are incorrectly numbered as 422 and 351 respectively; numbers of pages 196/197 are transposed.

Small-4to, recased in orig. panelled calf boards, rebacked in matching style, raised bands, leather title piece, orig. endpapers retained. Some browning and occasional foxing, but much less than usually found in this work. Recent owner's printed bookplate to endpaper. Very good.
