Description:
Holloway is a lyrical meditation on landscape, memory, and time. The term “holloway” refers to a sunken path-an ancient route carved deep into the earth by centuries of human and natural passage. In July 2005, writers Robert Macfarlane and Roger Deakin set out to explore the sandstone holloways of South Dorset, uncovering a world of shadows, mystery, and quiet enchantment. Six years later, following Deakin’s death, Macfarlane returned to the same landscape with artist Stanley Donwood and writer Dan Richards. This beautifully illustrated book weaves together these journeys, reflecting on loss, friendship, and the haunting beauty of places shaped by history and the slow work of nature.
