Facsimile reprint of the original 1789 edition, with Preface by G. Scalisi and Introduction by F.M. Raimondo. Bernardino da Ucria (1739-1796) was a Franciscan friar with an interest in botany and the Linnean system of classification. He was appointed demonstrator in botany at the University of Palermo in which capacity he was involved in the establishment of the Palermo Botanic Garden. This work comprises a catalogue of plants in the Botanic Garden, arranged according to the Linnaean system, with diagnoses of genera and species, and with notes on their wild origins in Sicily and their medicinal uses. Original text Latin. Preface and Introduction in Italian.
