Third edition. Illustrations after Paul Méry. Jean-Henri Fabre (1823-1915) was a French naturalist, entomologist, and author. He is best known for his observations of living insects and is considered by many to be the father of modern entomology.

Condition

4to (280x230mm), orig. qtr calf, scuffed/worn, marbled boards, leather title pieces and raised bands to spine, gilt, teg, marbled endpapers. Small piece torn from top edge of front endpaper. Leaf v/vi and one plate detached. Good.
