I would love to have had this book a decade ago, when I first got interested in the slime moulds. I particularly like that it mostly gives more than one image for each species, giving more chance that it illustrates the specimen in front of me.

It is up to date too, using Heterotrichia for some species previously in Trichia. The use of photographs for microscopic details is more realistic than drawings. Not every species I have personally found is included but that does not make the book any less useful.

The book is too large for a pocket but small enough for any bag or backpack.

The only issue I have come across is with Figure 21 which is too pixilated to be helpful.
