Naphtol AS in Textile Printing

Description:
Text English. A rare and substantial trade catalogue issued by the German company IG Farben containing 189 mounted textile samples, wonderfully preserving colours and patterns. The preface notes: 'We trust that this work will be of assistance to the textile printer as a survey of the ever growing fields of application of the Naphtol AS products.'
Produced during the height of IG Farben’s industrial activity, this volume documents the use of synthetic dyes in textile printing. IG Farben was formed in 1925 through the merger of Agfa, BASF, Bayer, Griesheim-Elektron, Hoechst, and Weiler-ter-Meer. Following the Second World War, the firm was seized by the Allies and dissolved into its constituent companies.
A scarce survival, remarkable both for its complete set of samples and as a testament to early 20th-century industrial chemistry and textile production.
