Description:
This book is the first in a series of three reference works devoted entirely to the European Pezizomycetes.
This first volume will cover the families Pezizaceae, Ascobolaceae and Ascodesmidaceae, with over 180 species of 40 genera described and illustrated. The book will contain an introduction, a chapter devoted to the morphological study of Pezizomycetes, a description of each family accompanied by a key to the genera, followed by a presentation of each genus with a key to the species, and finally a presentation of the species themselves. A bibliography and an index will complete the volume.
All species will be presented with descriptions, pictures, drawings, taxonomy, and nomenclatural commentaries.
This project is edited by Nicolas Van Vooren, who has specialised in the study of Pezizales for over twenty years, supported by European specialists, Matteo Carbone, Miguel Ángel Ribes and Björn Wergen.
