This revision, often referred to as the 'Champion and Seth Classification of the Forest Types of India', was based on a tour of the sixteen Indian states and the Andamans conducted by Champion between November, 1961 and 10th June, 1962. The tour finished in Kashmir which was not covered in the Preliminary Survey. Shiam Kishore Seth was Head of the Division of Forestry, Dehra Dun, India.
