Description:
Text Chinese with Latin names. The Ningbo University Museum of Marine Biology currently houses approximately 1,000 species and 5,000 specimens of mollusc bivalves. This book catalogues over 480 of these species. The first chapter provides an overview, introducing the main characteristics, living habits, and economic value of bivalves, discussing the bivalve classification system and providing a taxonomic index down to the family level. Chapters two to six, respectively, introduce selected species of the Paleopolydonta, Pterodonta, Paleoheterodonta, Heterodonta, and Heterolithodonta. Each specimen is listed by family, including its Chinese name, synonym, origin, and size, accompanied by clear colour photographs. To facilitate navigation, this book includes both Chinese and Latin name indexes.
