Description:
Resultats des Campagnes Scientifiques accomplies sur son Yacht par Albert I Prince Souverain de Monaco. Fasc. LXXXI. This work is one of the first attempts to date deep-sea sediments using radioactivity. It relied on samples from two major early oceanographic expeditions, the ships Princess Alice II (funded by Prince Albert I of Monaco) and HMS Challenger. The radium measurements were among the earliest systematic chemical studies of deep-sea sediments, and helped to establish early marine geochemistry.
