First edition. Scarce. Published anonymously, the title page states, 'by the author of "Select Female Biography," "Conchologist's Companion," &c.' Mary Roberts (1788-1864), an English author, wrote a number of books, predominantly about natural history. Here she gives an account of the natural history throughout the year, of the village of Sheepscombe in Gloucestershire.

8vo, orig. publisher's moire cloth, spine faded with some wear to head and foot, orig. printed title label to spine (browned). Some foxing to plates and offsetting to facing pages. Good.
