Vg in d/w. Marginal foxing. Inscribed to J.T.Shepley Woodthorpe Hall, Holmesfield, near Sheffield. John Thorpe “Jack” Shepley (1880-1958), was a steel manufacturer and owner of Woodthorpe Hall probably from James Lomax “Max” Cockayne, formerly proprietor of White, Favell & Cockayne, wine and spirit merchants and cigar importers, Sheffield, and later became managing director of Porter Wright & Co. of Millsands.
