William Thomas Lowndes (c. 1798-1843), was an English bibliographer, known for this classic work, which took him fourteen years to complete. It was one of the first comprehensive bibliographies of Great Britain and Ireland, which includes occasional annotations on the rarity, value, or significance of the works included. It became a key reference tool for book collectors, booksellers, and librarians during the 19th century.
Condition
4 vols, 8vo, later buckram, gilt title to spine. Withdrawn from an institutional library with a few ink stamps; shelf labels removed from spines. Good.
