The results of many years' work by a renowned scientist who has spent all his life studying butterflies. Even so, this is a very large region and Larsen admits he could not cover all areas as thoroughly as he would have liked.
There is still an enormous wealth of information here that will be invaluable to both scientists and amateur enthusiasts for generations to come.
The book is conveniently split into two volumes,basically illustrations and text. The smaller volume, the illustrations, still weighs 1.2 Kg, so if you are visiting the region, you might find it easier to read up on the text but only take the illustrations with you.
The illustrations are from Larsen's own collection of specimens, so they are better quality than museum specimens but not as good as live photos.
